Documental: La Sal Escondida

SINOPSIS:

Las Salinas de Imón, en la pedanía de Sigüenza (Guadalajara) son un paradigma de las explotaciones salineras del interior. La sal ha sido la forma de vida de los pobladores de esta región, a falta de otro recurso, y ha curtido a las gentes y forjado su carácter. Su valor estratégico ha motivado conquistas, ha enriquecido a clérigos y señores feudales, ha abierto caminos y comprado voluntades. En esta zona se ha explotado la sal ininterrumpidamente desde la antigüedad hasta 1993, fecha en la que se produce la ultima cosecha.

El documental narra su historia, la geología y biología de la zona, el paisaje cultural y un retrato de las gentes que se dedicaron a esta actividad durante los años pasados, así como el presente y el futuro de la zona. La labor de documentación ha permitido contar con material gráfico de época.

Imon´s salt mines were one of the most significant salt sources during the spanish history, and production lasted, at least, 1.000 years.

This documentary is focused on its history, the geological and biological significance, the protected landscape surrounding the place and its etnographic importance. A specific portrait of those people involved in the salt extraction is depicted, as part of the cultural heritage of Spain. Some old salt workers have been interviewed. We carried out a historical research and a documentation program that led to a high amount of ancient photographs from the beginning of the 20th century, included and discussed in the film.

The documentary was filmed during this year in High Definition with the aid of cranes and steadycams. It includes motion 2D and 3D graphics, some original music, and the voice of one of the most famous spanish narrators (José María del Río, who was the voice of Carl Sagan in the spanish version of the TV series Cosmos).
